Mission

OANO's mission is to provide leadership, education, and advocacy to enhance the ability of Ohio's nonprofit organizations to serve their communities.

OANO carries out its mission by

  • Providing programs, services, and resources to strengthen the management, governance, and leadership of nonprofit organizations and
  • Serving as a voice on public policy issues and working to build the capacity of Ohio's nonprofit organizations to participate in the public policy process.

OANO is the only statewide membership association that reflects the full diversity of the nonprofit sector in Ohio. OANO's nearly 700 members represent organizations of all sizes and mission areas, including arts and culture organizations, historical societies, homeless and battered women's shelters, agencies that provide services to children and families, community development organizations, libraries, museums, food banks, and many other types of nonprofits.
