In 1996, leaders representing a cross-section of Ohio's nonprofit organizations recognized the need for a statewide association that would serve as a convener, capacity builder, and public policy voice for Ohio's nonprofit sector. The result was the Ohio Association of Nonprofit Organizations (OANO), a statewide coalition of more than 550 organizations representing the diversity and breadth of the sector.

Currently, OANO has more than 550 members located throughout Ohio and involved in a broad range of nonprofit activities. Many of Ohio's nonprofit leaders have chosen to become OANO members. They are experiencing great resources and savings. Isn't it time you joined and experienced the benefits for your organization?

OANO Workshops and Trainings

OANO holds more than 50 educational programs each year covering a wide variety of topics such as fundraising, governance, and accountability. Members receive a discount on registration fees and some programs are free for members.

Information Sharing

OANO provides members with public policy alerts about issues including Ohio's proposed state budget and other news alerts on issues including how the economy is impacting the nonprofit sector in Ohio. Members also receive OANO's bi-monthly e-newsletter, Ohio Nonprofit News.

Sample Policies & Procedures

OANO offers an ethics and accountability program for Ohio's nonprofit sector called the Standards for Excellence. As part of this program, members have access to sample policies and procedures to help them save money while establishing best practices within their organizations. Why pay an attorney to draft a conflict of interest policy for your board when OANO has sample policies at no charge?

One-on-One Technical Assistance

OANO staff is here to help answer legal and regulatory questions, assist with board governance issues, and provide guidance on planning, human resource issues, and much more.

OANO Job Board

An employment ad in a newspaper can cost hundreds of dollars. Members can post their job openings on our website for free.

Member Savings and Group Purchasing Programs

OANO members are saving thousands by opting out of the state unemployment tax system and into our unemployment savings program, OANO members are saving 25% on ink cartridges, and even more money on healthcare, workers' compensation, telecommunications and more.

Also, each year, OANO conducts an annual salary and benefits survey for the nonprofit sector in Ohio, hosts the Ohio Nonprofit Excellence Award Luncheon, and an annual conference with first-rate speakers and networking opportunities!
