Nonprofits at the Statehouse
Visiting your legislator is probably the most effective way to introduce yourself and your organization. By getting to know your legislator personally, you can make your organization visible and be an effective advocate for issues that affect your organization and the communities you serve.
Nonprofits at the Statehouse is a program that will assist OANO members in setting up meetings with legislators. OANO members will simply need to fill out a request form and send it to OANO. Upon receiving this form, OANO staff will contact the legislator to set up a meeting based on your availability.
In order to facilitate a productive meeting, OANO will also provide participants with a folder of information that includes the legislator's biography, tips for effective advocacy, a copy of OANO's public policy agenda, and a meeting report form. Prior to the meeting, OANO staff will be available to meet with the participant to discuss talking points and address any last-minute questions or concerns. Through
Nonprofits at the Statehouse, OANO hopes that you will be able to create and maintain a mutually beneficial relationship with your legislator.
